I went through a couple of years when all I painted was landscapes, or rather seascapes. I painted this after a trip to St Ives.

It was an overcast day but as soon we turned the corner to this beach the light changed and lit up the sea. It was so beautiful.

I painted on the beach that day and a guy came up to me with his young daughter, said they'd been watching me paint, and asked if he could buy my work.

I said 'Yes, when it's finished'.

Half an hour later I sold the work and he walked away a happy man with a memory of his holiday. Think I inspired his daughter too.

This one I created in the studio when I returned.
